Tuesday evening’s Presidential address to Congress was long and, for many, difficult to watch. Some found the meager protests of the Democratic members of Congress difficult to watch as well. In this episode for paid subscribers, we consider the dynamics at play in the chamber. We go on to discuss ABC News’s announcement that it is shutting down the 538 political site, and agree that, while it lasted, it represented a welcome change in political reporting. We also ponder expectations that Trump’s popularity will decline, and whether that will increase resistance to his efforts.
