Why wasn’t this assault suspected? I didn’t read much, except that DOGE would not have the power to do anything rash. I certainly read that it could be damaging, but this immediate assault? No.

You have 2 guys with serious issues who then find each other. Trump is clearly not what he was in Trump 1. He has finally surrounded himself with a complete circle of acolytes to enable him. Then he found Elon, the Black Swan or Asimov's Mule as I see it, to go out and do stuff that Trump can claim he's in control of. Elon is the prime minister in a system that doesn't have one. I would have said Trump is wanting a ceremonial Presidential role while in semi-retirement, but after his picture yesterday I guess he's seeing himself as King, now. Read Elon's tweets. This is the "World's Richest Man" - with a government to run plus his businesses - who clearly spends chunks of each day writing those gems. I imagine Elon has some idea of what he wants his administration to do. Maybe he'll enlighten us with a chain of tweets.

Thanks for this, David. It feels calculated: the tens of thousands of people being fired, some in ways unthinkable as having not performed their jobs, leaves govt operations in complete disarray. The cuts at IRS as taxes are being filed is a great example. The proposed takeover of DC - which in the heads of too many is a place solely where a corrupt government resides, not people, because that’s how media & politicians describe it - is bc Canada is unrealistic. USAID: it helps Black and Brown people and THIS govt is so racist they refuse. Deportations taking literally billions in paid taxes and hundreds of thousands of workers? Pfft. They were portrayed as drug-running rapists. Facts haven’t mattered since KellyAnne said “alt-facts” before.

Eventually (& I predict about the time tax refund checks that, with farm subsidies, are late) when MAGA voters are hit _that_ hard the King & PM will swoop in with Elon’s fabulous new AI product for which he’ll have a govt contract for far more than any on-paper savings from firings and say the jobs can all be done by his product.

Far fetched? Yes. So is this nightmare of harm. MAGA voters want to believe in the great & powerful Oz. Trump, self-declared King, will not leave. Elon is influencing elections world wide. They seem to want world domination for white breeders. I’m old. I so hope to check out before it happens.

"I don’t know. I’m not sire anybody does, which seems like a flaw when you’re basically letting a guy run amok with the federal government."

I think Musk is doing what former Presidents Clinton and Obama said they were going to do - find and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse. Now, you may disagree with the techniques and results, but at least Musk is making a serious attempt. Look at all the wailing and gnashing of teeth by mostly the DLPs (Dems, Liberals and Progressives) when USAID was looked at. Maybe you would like to justify some of the items mentioned in a CNN segment:

"‘What Do You Say?’: CNN Host Challenges Ted Lieu On ‘Taxpayer Money’ Going To Questionable Programs Abroad"

Is it a perfect process? No. Will there be mistakes? Absolutely. But politicians, regardless of party affiliation, should welcome transparency with regards to where and how taxpayer money is being allocated. After all, isn't that part of their job? More importantly, why hasn't this been done before now?
